Sheri Alexander serves as chief strategy officer of Gregory & Appel Insurance. She has 40 years of experience in employee benefits brokerage and consulting. Prior to joining Gregory & Appel in 2005 she spent 15 years with Marsh & McLennan/Mercer and nearly 10 years with Gardner & White.

Sheri has considerable experience with mergers and acquisitions in healthcare and manufacturing and has represented Taft-Hartley employers at the bargaining table. She also has expertise in direct-contracting, group captives, on-site and near-site clinics, value-based benefits design, reference based benefits, price transparency tools, voluntary benefits, and outsourced benefits administration. She has constructed joint-purchased employee benefit programs including several hospital and senior living coalitions.

Sheri serves as chair of the Indianapolis Engage Mentoring Executive Roundtable and the Benefit Advisors Network Board of Directors Innovation Committee. She also serves on the Boards of Cancer Support Community of Central Indiana and Gregory & Appel Insurance. She has served on the Advisory Councils of Anthem, Benefitfocus, Boston Mutual, EyeMed, Franciscan Health, IU Health Plans, QBE, The Standard and United Healthcare. She is also a longstanding member of the local and national CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) chapters, the state and National Associations of Health Underwriters, the Employers’ Forum of Indiana, Executive Women in Healthcare and ISHHRA (Indiana Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration).

Sheri was named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s list of “Who’s Who in Healthcare & Benefits” in 2011, was named a Woman of Influence in 2012 for her professional and civic accomplishments, and was nationally recognized in 2016 by Employee Benefit Adviser magazine as one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Benefit Advising.

In 2016 Sheri was appointed to the National Association of Health Underwriters Principal’s Council in which she participated in regular calls and meetings with national legislators and agencies on topics surrounding the ACA and the insurance industry in general.
